The art of the football shirt
The football shirt has a huge global resonance which transcends age and language, place and time. Iconic and nostalgic on the world's pitches and streets – a unifying item, fused into a collective consciousness of specific moments, incidents and provenance, remembered well and fondly. To explore this wonderful world further, Jacket Required partners with Neal Heard, author of A Lover's Guide to Football Shirts. Consultant, historian and fanatic, Heard shares his vast knowledge, passion and enthusiasm to tell a story which crosses over far beyond the realms of the beautiful game. Presenting a curated selection of sartorially sound, obscure and vintage football shirts which travel through history, design and popular culture, entrusting the collection of key pieces to narrate the many links between team kits of previous generations which have gained rarity and iconic status, and how they fuse or collide with the worlds of music, fashion and politics. In a dedicated exhibition space accessed from Brick Lane, the selection will be on show to both buyers and the public on 26th and 27th July.
Build a bag at Anya Hindmarch
Marylebone leather goods merchant Anya Hindmarch has just added a new fully customisable range to its already vast collection of covetable accessories: Build a Bag. First, choose your base: build a bag starts with the new soft bucket bag. Choose between two sizes in a range of colours and textures. Next choose a handle: each bag can be worn in two different ways, depending on whether you choose one or two handles. Pick a strap: mix it up with a range of detachable embellished shoulder straps. Finally, add more layers: play with a range of key fobs, bag charms, ruffs and stickers to make your bag your own.
