The Giant Cheese Board
London has gone cheese mad… we’ve had a cheese street, a cheese festival and now a Giant Cheese Board is coming to London with unlimited cheese and mulled wine. The giant immersive cheese board will be erected in Studio 338 in Greenwich this December with some of the best artisan cheeses from across Europe, including a huge baked Camembert. You will be able to roam the board, eating as much cheese (and biscuits) served from the man-size mice as you can handle while sipping on mulled wine – oh and vegans they’ve got you covered too. They’ll be serving up cheesecake for those who haven’t already stuffed themselves silly, and there'll be double-size fireplaces to snuggle up in front of when the food coma hits and music into the early hours of the morning. Sat 16th- Sun 17th December, Sat 23rd December, Studio 338, 338 Boord St, London SE10 0PF
Remember me when I'm gone
Alex Franco is a fashion photographer whose work has been published in Vogue, Vogue Homme, The Last Magazine, V Magazine, Beauty Papers and Bon Magazine. Aside from creating fashion photographs, Alex is constantly engaged in cultural and social photography projects. For the project “Remember me when I’m gone” Alex travelled several times to Calais to document The Jungle, a refugee and migrant encampment in the vicinity of Calais, France, in use from January 2015 to October 2016. Having made six visits over the course of eighteen months, Alex’s intention was to explore the context of displacement. This guided curiosity and concern stem from a personal connection and hearing the stories of immigrants who travelled from Morocco to Spain in the last few decades, with the issues that surround status, safety and human rights that are constantly compromised. Connection is a strong theme within Alex’s work. From living with families in remote parts of Ethiopia and collaborating with poets Greta Bellamacina and Robert Montgomery whose voices have a social connection, Alex Franco’s experiences lead to a handwritten personal account of those that called The Jungle home for the time they had. Remember Me When I’m Gone will be exhibited on 5th and 6th December at Unit 10 Huntingdon Estate in London.
